HIS' Radeon X800 GT is slightly different from the other three that we have here today, in that it has a dual slot cooling solution. You could say that HIS have gone a little over the top on the cooling solution for this card, but it is quiet and we cannot fault them for choosing this cooling solution in that respect.
They've opted for the IceQ II cooler on their Radeon X800 GT rather than the original, and slightly smaller, IceQ cooler that was seen on the company's
Radeon X700 Pro solution. Incidentally, the GPU that HIS have used is labelled 'Radeon X800 SE' and there are no model numbers listed - we believe that HIS have used an R423 GPU on this card rather than the R480 that PowerColor have chosen.
We haven't seen HIS' Radeon X800 XL video card, but again, this looks remarkably similar to a typical Radeon X800 XL PCB. Along with the large cooler on the front, there is also the heatsink that covers the memory on the rear of the card. The base of the main cooler is made from copper and the fins from the heatsink are aluminium - the fan is huge, so runs amazingly quiet like all of the IceQ series video cards. The other benefit is that the hot air is exhausted out of the chassis.
We love the IceQ II cooling solution, but it's inclusion is perhaps a little excessive on what is a fairly cheap card. According to HIS' software, the core idles around 32 degrees and then loads at around 45-50 degrees depending on the type of load - awesome.
The back plate features a single DVI connector and a 15-pin D-Sub VGA connector along with the standard TV-Out port. The bundle includes cables for RGB, Composite and there's also a Composite to S-Video connector. Interestingly though, there is no S-Video cable included in the bundle.
There's a rather fun game included in the form of FlatOut - a great arcade style racing game, a disk with several game demos, a driver CD and HIS' iTurbo software that allows the video card to run at enhanced clock speeds of 500/1000 under the manufacturer's warranty. We had a look at the iTurbo utility software in our
HIS Radeon X850 XT IceQ II review if you are interested in the interface and haven't seen it before.
